However, owning a home isn’t exactly getting cheaper, particularly when you factor in all of the extra costs, including homeowners insurance. The average homeowners insurance premium rose 3.6 percent in 2015, following a 3.3 percent increase in 2014, according to a 2018 study from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Considering it’s on a steady rise, it’s safe to say that it’s only going to get higher as the years go on.
